Gangtok By Road (Shared jeeps)

New Jalpaiguri (114m) to Gangtok(1600m) it was about 120 km, its take 4.5 hours by shared jeeps Sikkim is a state in northeast India, bordered by Bhutan, Tibet and Nepal.
Shared jeeps takes total 10 person . They will wait until all seats are full only they start to drive . When you arrived at NJP there will be many brokers (Agents) who will ask you want share jeep to Gangtok . Don't follow the brokers they says you my jeep is outside of the train station its not true . the Share jeep ticket counter is the front of the Main gate NJP station .

You can directly talk with the driver about the price of the ticket . I pay 250 /- INR for NJP to Gangtok . In NJP have shared jeeps for Darjeeling , Gangtok , Kakarvitta Nepal etc . Pay and use toilet available at the Jeep station . If you have a budget to book a cab for Gangtok its also available front of the NJP train station entrance . If you want to take a bus its also possible from NJP station . There is a tourist information office also available anytime . There is many Travel agency office outside of the train station who try to convince you to buy there package tour . This all travel agency can charge you more money only so just ignore them .

Before you start to drive buy drinking water , some dry food . The road condition is very good , all the way you can see river view and nice landscape . after 2 hours they stop for food . The foods are very cheap i had a Indian veg thali just 60 /- INR only , The taste was delicious .
